Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a population of 269 million people or 3.49% of the total world population. Indonesia is ranked as the fourth most populous country in the world after China. As many as 56% or 150 million people of Indonesia's population are urban people. Garbage will become an environmental problem if it is not managed properly. Various types of waste generated by human activities in the form of plastic waste, paper, cans, glass, Styrofoam, wood, leaves and others. Each type of waste requires proper management so as not to cause environmental problems. In 1995 the amount of waste produced in Indonesia was 800 grams/day/capita, this number increased in 2010 to 910 grams/day/capita. Garbage there is easily found along the road to the Final Disposal Site and is only burned when the waste reaches the TPA. Therefore the need for special handling of waste. Developed countries are starting to minimize the pollution of waste in the environment, especially plastic waste. One thing that can be done to overcome plastic waste pollution in a simple way is to use it as ecobricks.
