Abstract
Al-Quran is the holy book of Muslims which will always be held firmly by Muslims around the world and will always be relevant in every time and era. This holy book contains various types of words of Allah SWT in the form of commands, prohibitions, and news. Everything contained in the Al-Quran is a guide from Allah SWT to mankind in order to not get lost and always be on the path of truth until finally entering His heaven. Recently there are many social problems found in everyday life, such as juvenile delinquency, moral degradation, disobedience to parents, the spread of immorality, and so on, all of which are contrary to Islamic teachings. By understanding the meaning of qurrata a’yun in the Al-Quran through the interpretation of Buya Hamka in his tafseer hopefully can omit or at least decrease that social problems. The purpose of this research is to describe Buya Hamka's interpretation in tafseer Al-Azhar about qurrota a'yun contained in the Al-Quran, namely in the letter Taha verse 40, Al-Qaṣaṣ verse 9 and 13, Al-Ahzab verse 51, Al-Furqan verse 74, and Al-Sajdah verse 17. These verses of the Al-Quran contained the word qurrata a'yun with different meanings. This type of research is library research, with a descriptive approach. The main source of this research is the book of tafseer Al-Azhar by Buya Hamka and also assisted by documents in the form of books, previous researchs, and literatures which are relevant to the object being studied. This study uses descriptive analytic as data analysis technique. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that qurrata a'yun is a word in the Al-Quran which is always positive and pleasant in every way it is interpreted, whether it is interpreted as a wife, children, gifts in the afterlife, or in terms of feelings of pleasure, happiness, and calm.
