Abstract
Background: Exclusive breastfeeding is an unresolved problem both nationally and internationally. Breast milk has many benefits for both mother and baby. Exclusive breastfeeding is influenced by health behavior factors, one of which is the driving factor consisting of the support of health workers and the support of the closest people such as husband and family. Objective: To analyze the relationship between family support and exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia. Research Method : This study uses a literature (narrative) review method with a case-control and cross-sectional research design in the last 10 years. The inclusion criteria used were journal articles with full text written in Indonesian or English, indexed by Sinta 1-4 and research subjects were mothers who had babies aged 0-24 months. The search was carried out through the garuda database (www.garuda.ristekbrin.go.id) and neliti (https://www.neliti.com/id/) in the period 1 August – 15 August 2021. Result : The 8 articles that have been reviewed, it is known that there are differences in research design, number of samples, sampling techniques, and methods of analysis, so that these differences lead to different conclusions. In addition, differences in regional characteristics can also affect the results of the study. The results showed that 6 articles stated that family support had an effect on the success of exclusive breastfeeding with p value < 0.05 and 2 other articles stated that family support did not affect the success of exclusive breastfeeding with p value > 0.05. Conclusion :These findings provide insight to families to increase support in exclusive breastfeeding and health workers are expected to provide education to families regarding the importance of exclusive breastfeeding.
