Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the implementation of learning in schools which were originally face-to-face to be replaced by online learning. These conditions require parents to be involved in learning that children do at home. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the involvement of parents in online learning for junior high school students during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is qualitative narrative inquiry. Collecting data using semi-structured interviews, and involving parents who have junior high school children learning participants in Surakarta. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results of this study indicate that mothers and fathers are involved in assisting children's learning outside of online classes, such as accompanying children with assignments, preparing tools and materials for assignments, helping children with assignments, checking the results of children's assignments, and explaining material that is difficult for children. However, fathers and mothers are not involved in accompanying children when taking online classes, because children will feel disturbed if their parents are waiting for them when they are carrying out online classes. There are obstacles experienced by parents in providing assistance in children's online learning, namely the limited time that working parents have and the lack of understanding that parents have regarding junior high school learning materials.
