Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe the function of the illocutionary form of speech. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. In this study, data sources are used from Instagram accounts @kemenkes_ri and @dr.tirta during the period from March to September 2021. The form of data in this study is in the form of captions contained in feed posts. Data collection techniques in this study used three ways, namely, listen, take notes, and documentation. The results of this study were found 30 data containing illocutionary speech acts. Furthermore, first, there are 11 representative/assertive speech acts with the function of stating and showing the most dominating. Second, there are 9 directive utterances with the functions of inviting, recommending, ordering, requesting, and prohibiting. Third, there are 5 expressive utterances dominated by the thank you function. Fourth, there are 3 commissive utterances with the function of offering the most dominating. And, fifth, there are 2 declarative utterances with the function of prohibiting and statements of disagreeing.
