Abstract

Cikampek district is one of the urban areas that is allocated as a center for local activities (PKL) which of course will trigger the emergence of land conversion into built-up land as a support for community socio-economic activities. One of the uses of built up land in Cikampek District is land that is used as a residential area, namely a residential area, as an area that has a fast population growth rate making the development of residential areas also rapid. Settlements are one of the areas that play a very important role in contributing to the emission of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) gas resulting from the contribution of energy use in the household sector. This study aims to (1) determine the characteristics of settlements in Cikampek District based on their density level, (2) determine the distribution of CO2 gas emission footprints, and (3) determine the role of residential areas in contributing to CO2 gas emissions. The method used in this study is a survey method to obtain data on the amount of household energy use, namely cooking fuel and electric power. Methods Data analysis uses an ecological approach to the relationship between humans and their environmental elements. The results obtained are (1) the characteristics of settlements in Cikampek District consist of 3 densities namely high, medium, low (2) the area that produces the highest trace of CO2 gas emissions is West Cikampek Village with a total trace of CO2 gas emissions of 13,255 tons of CO2/year with the pattern of distribution of traces CO2 gas emission tend to be clustered at certain points, in residential areas to the west and east with trace values of CO2 gas emission from high to highest, (3) residential areas play a crucial role in contributing to CO2 gas emissions this is evidenced in the result of the correlation test which shows a very strong relationship between the variable density of settlements and the trace value of CO2 gas emissions, this can prove that the density of settlement affects the high trace of CO2 gas emissions that will be produced.
