Abstract
Background : Chronic renal failure is a decrease in the glomerular filtration rate of less than 60ml/minute/1.73m2, which occurs for more than 3 months. High doses of acetaminophen can damage the kidneys. The presence of Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester in PropoelixTM is able to reduce free radicals and prevent oxidative stress. Objective: To determine the effect of propoelixTM on the glomerular filtration rate of male rats with wistar albino strain of chronic kidney failure Acetaminophen induction. Research Methods: This study uses a true experimental design with a pre test - post test control group design. The number of experimental animals was 28 wistar albino rats that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, which were then divided into 4 groups. Group I is a positive control. Group II is a negative control. Group III (of propoelixTM at a dose of 0.0432 gram/200 g BW of rats). And group IV (of propoelixTM at a dose of 0.0216 gram/200 g BW of rats). GFR measurement using the Kockcroft-Gault method pre and post treatment. The test results using the One Way Anova test. Results: There was a significant difference (p-value 0.01) to the GFR of the chronic kidney failure model of Wistar albino rats treated with propoelixTM at a dose of 0.0216 gram or 0.0432 gram. In the first treatment group increased by 138.17 mg/dL and the second treatment group increased by 206.34 mg/dL. Conclusion: Administration of propoelixTM at a dose of 0.0216 gram/200 g BW of rats and a dose of 0.0432 gram/200 g of BW of rats had an effect on increasing GFR of chronic kidney failure wistar albino rats.
