Abstract
Learning motivation is a driving force or encouragement from within an individual that creates a desire to achieve certain goals, desire to know, and obtain maximum results in learning. The purpose of this study is to describe the learning motivation of adolescents with a broken home background and the factors that influence it. This study uses a qualitative approach. The informants in this study were 5 high school students who had a broken home family background. The method of data collection was done by semi-structured interviews and the data analysis technique used was descriptive narrative. The results of this study are the five informants still have motivation in learning and in realizing this motivation the informants mention in various ways. This is evidenced by the various efforts that have been made to achieve good performance. The five informants also explained that what motivated and attracted him to achieve good achievements was to achieve his dreams and aspirations and to achieve his goals in education. Informants also showed a reaction when their academic achievement declined and tried to improve when their academic achievement declined. The informants also explained the importance of learning because learning is one way to achieve their dreams and aspirations and the informants also have their own learning methods. Internal factors that influence are dreams and aspirations, external factors that influence are support from people closest to the informant. Keywords: broken home, adolescene, learning motivation
