Abstract
This study aims to determine the role of judges in the protection of witnesses and victims in the teleconference criminal court at the Surakarta 1A Special District Court. Knowing legal remedies if there is a risk that witnesses and victims are not legally protected in the teleconference criminal court at the Special Surakarta 1A District Court. The research method uses empirical juridical research, namely in analyzing the problem it is done by combining secondary and primary data legal materials obtained in the field which will be carried out in this research. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the role of judges in protecting witnesses and victims in the Special Surakarta 1A District Court and legal efforts carried out by authorized institutions in protecting witnesses and victims by teleconference have gone well in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code. , Law Number 31 of 2014 concerning amendments to Law Number 13 of 2006, Circular Letter of the Supreme Court No. 1 of 2020 letter from the Director General of the General Court of Justice Number 379/DJU/PS.00/3/2020 concerning Criminal Case Trials by Teleconference, Supreme Court Regulation Number 4 of 2020 concerning Administration and Trial of Criminal Cases in Courts Electronically.
