Abstract

Obesity and obesity are health problems that can lead to diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cancer dyslipidemia, and other cardiovascular diseases as well as high morbidity rates. Physical activity greatly affects the stability of blood pressure, people who are not active in activities tend to have a higher heart rate, as a result blood pressure tends to rise. Lack of physical activity can also increase the risk of being overweight which will increase the risk of obesity. Apart from the lack of physical activity, another factor that affects obesity is stress, according to research states that stress that is too frequent can harm everyone. Hormonal changes in someone who is depressed or stressed can cause an increase in body fat buildup. This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity and stress and obesity. The research method used was analytic observational with cross sectional approach. The sample consisted of 91 respondents to FK UMS students. The results of this study with the Chi square test is p <0.05 for physical activity with obesity and p <0.05 for stress with obesity. In conclusion, physical activity and stress have a significant relationship with obesity.
