Abstract

Introduction : The incidence of babies with low birth weight (LBW) is one of the important indicators in determining the health status of children because this problem is also one of the factors causing infant mortality. The incidence of LBW is caused by several factors, including maternal age and parity. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal age and parity with the incidence of LBW in DIY Province according to Riskesdas 2018. Research Methodology: This type of research uses observational non-experimental. The data used in this study is secondary data derived from the 2018 National Basic Health Research Results (Riskesdas) organized by the Health Research and Development Agency (Balitbangkes), Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. The researcher used the total population as the research sample, which was 483. The data in this study were secondary data from Riskesdas 2018 obtained from the results of individual and household questionnaire interviews at Riskesdas 2018. The data was tested for normality using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and then analyzed using the Spearman Rank Test. Results: The average distribution of maternal age was 27 years with parity 1 and the baby's weight at birth was 3059 grams. The results showed (p = 0.46) (p = 0.43) Conclusion: There is no relationship between maternal age and the incidence of LBW in Yogyakarta Province. There is no parity relationship with the incidence of LBW in DIY Province.
