Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of crowding out are interest rates and investment, macroeconomic variable are Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and inflation on the budget deficit in Indonesia in 1999-2019. The method used is Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The results show that inflation has no effect on the budget deficit in Indonesia. Meanwhile, interest rates, investment, and GDP have a negative effect on the budget deficit in Indonesia. The government is expected to increase the ability of state revenues through tax collection as the main source of state revenue, so that the budget deficit that occurs from year to year can be reduced. In addition, private and domestic investment must be increased to support the pace of economic growth so that it continues to grow positively in accordance with the target. Thus, the budget deficit can be closed without increasing foreign debt.
