Abstract

Radin Inten II Airport is one of the airports in Lampung Province and the only airport can serves commercial flights in Lampung Province. This makes Radin Inten II Airport a place that has a lot of potential and added potential of Lampung Province which excels in tourism and industry. However, this potential is underutilized based on the number of lodging facilities that can be ordered online (70% of active travelers order online) within ±15 km from airport the lodging facilities registered totaling 6 place with specifications of 2 hotels, 3 guest houses, 1 home stay. Through these problems the author decided to design lodging facilities with purpose of maximizing the potential of Radin Inten II Airport and Lampung Province. The design of the lodging facilities is based on the desires or needs of consumers who use airports in general, who go to hotels only to rest for a while and do not use facilities that are not related with their requirement while resting. Based on this, the type of lodging facility designed is a transit hotel because the type of lodging facility is a form of commercial accommodation, which is provided specifically for passengers and flight crews who are transiting on a trip by airplane. In designing the transit hotel, the author plans to create a design concept based on the problems of the COVID-19 pandemic which is a problem for today's daily life. The emphasis on design concepts that are considered is modern architecture during the Spanish flu pandemic (1918-1970) because Spanish flu pandemic spreads is the same as the COVID-19 pandemic through the air (airborne), and green architecture that prioritizes aspects of protecting, saving, and reducing use of natural resources, maintain the quality of indoor air quality, and pay attention to building user based on principles sustainable development.
