Abstract
The incidence of obesity in adolescents is increasing every year. There are some factors that can cause obesity are excessive food intake such as fast food consumption and low physical activity. Based on the results of a preliminary survey in Polokarto Village, it was found that 26.7% of adolescents were obese. The study aimed to determine the correlation between fast food consumption and physical activity with the incidence of obesity in adolescents in Polokarto Village, Sukoharjo Regency. This type of research was observational using cross sectional method. The number of research subjects was 73 youths who participated in the Karangtaruna organization in Polokarto Village and were selected using the Convenience sampling method. Obesity incidence data obtained from the calculation of BMI/U. Fast food consumption data were collected by interview using the FFQ questionnaire and physical activity by interview using the PAL form. Data analysis with Chi Square. The distribution of respondents based on the incidence of obesity is 23.3%. Distribution of respondents based on consumption of fast food with frequent category 56.2%. Distribution of respondents based on physical activity with a mild category of 61.1%. The results of the correlation test showed that the consumption of fast food was p=0.001, RR(95%CI) 0.629(0.489-0.810) and physical activity p=0.002, RR(95%CI) 0.668(0.532-0.840). There was a significant correlation between the consumption of fast food and physical activity with the incidence of obesity in adolescents in Polokarto Village, Sukoharjo Regency.
