Abstract

The Muhadharah program is the first step in preparing a cadre of da'i, by means of which students are trained to give speeches or speak in front of their friends like a preacher who is preaching to deliver his da'wah messages, so that students do not feel awkward when they are asked to give a speech or speak in public. This study aims to examine the role of the Muhadharah program in improving students' public speaking skills, the inhibiting factors and solutions to increase the role of the Muhadharah program (a case study at the Al-Mukmin Ngruki Islamic Boarding School). The type of research conducted by the researcher is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects are the ustadzah supervisor for the language section, the IST administrator for the language section and students. While the data collection techniques used were interviews and documentation, then the data were analyzed through correlational analysis. Data analysis in the study is inductive The results of this study concluded that the Muhadharah program at the Al-Mukmin Ngruki Islamic Boarding School was very instrumental in improving the public speaking skills of students and being able to train students' self-confidence to be better than before joining the muhadharah program. The inhibiting factors of the Muhadharah program in improving the public speaking skills of students include: At least the students who know the importance of the Muhadharah program, the lack of enthusiasm of the students in participating in the Muhadharah program, the lack of discipline of the students when participating in the Muhadharah program, the lack of self-confidence of the students when speaking in public. The solution to increase the role of the muhadharah program is by holding briefings for new students about the importance and purpose of the Muhadharah program for students, holding training on public speaking techniques for new students, as capital when speaking on stage.
