Abstract
This study aims to describe the use, effectiveness, constraints, and solutions of the use of the strategy of Mind Mapping the media combination Whatsapp Group in class VIII-B students of SMP Negeri 1 Mantingan Ngawi Regency in the 2020/2021 academic year. This study uses a combined method of quantitative and qualitative approaches (mixing methods). The quantitative approach design uses Pre-experimental with One Group Pretest Posttest Design, while in qualitative research it uses case studies. Quantitative data collection techniques using the test method, while qualitative with observation and interviews. The validity test of the quantitative instrument was used to measure the validity of the test items with the correlation formula of Product Moment crude numbers and the reliability test of the test instrument using the KR 20 formula. The validity of the qualitative data used triangulation of sources and techniques. Quantitative data analysis used Paired Sample T-test. Qualitative data analysis using a flow model. The results showed that the average value (pretest) of 70 increased to 83 on (posttest).Test Paired Sample T-test shows that the value of tcount > ttable is 14.097 greater than 1.693 at a significance level of 0.05. Based on the results of the two data (pretest) and (posttest) it can be concluded that hypothesis Ho rejected and Ha accepted, meaning that there is a difference between before treatment (pretest) and after treatment (posttest) through the use of strategy Mind Mapping media combination Whatsapp Group class VIII-B SMP Negeri 1 Mantingan Ngawi. These differences indicate an increase in the average score of understanding the values of Indonesian unity before (pretest) and after treatment (posttest). The obstacle faced was the limited time related to the implementation of the research. An alternative solution to overcome these obstacles is that researchers arrive early and researchers must be good at managing time well. The conclusion above implies that if the teacher wants students' understanding of the values of the Indonesian Unity to increase, then it is very appropriate to use the strategy of Mind Mapping the media combination Whatsapp Group.
