Abstract
This study aims to describe the use, effectiveness, constraints, and solutions of the use of the model using the Project Based Learning media combination Whatsapp Group in class VIII-A SMP Negeri 1 Mantingan. This study uses a combined method of quantitative and qualitative approaches (mixed methods). The quantitative approach design uses Pre-experimental with One Group Pretest Posttest Design, while in qualitative research it uses case studies. Quantitative data collection techniques using the test method, while the qualitative by means of observation and interviews. The validity test of the quantitative instrument was used to measure the validity of the test items with the correlation formula of Product Moment crude numbers, while the reliability test of the test instrument used the KR 20 formula. The validity of the qualitative data in testing the credibility used triangulation of sources and techniques. Quantitative data analysis used Paired Sample T-test. The flow model is used in the process qualitative data analysis. The results showed that the average value (pretest) of 61.4 increased to 80.31 on (posttest). Paired Sample T-test shows that the value of tcot > ttable is 9.203 which is greater than 1.693 at a significance level of 0.05. Based on the results of the two data (pretest) and (posttest) it can be concluded that hypothesis Ho rejected and Ha accepted, meaning that there is a difference between the before(pretest)and after treatment(posttest)through the use ofmodel of Project Based Learning media combinations Whatsapp Group at class VIII-A SMP Negeri 1 Mantingan. The results of these calculations indicate an increase in the average score of understanding the values of Indonesian democracy before (pretest) and after treatment (posttest). The obstacle faced was the limited time for implementation, to overcome this the researchers arrived early and monitored students through online media. The conclusion above implies that if the teacher wants students' understanding of the values of Indonesian democracy to increase, then it is appropriate to use themodel Project Based Learning with themedia combination Whatsapp Group.
