Abstract
Work posture can be associated with musculoskeletal complaints in farmers. Farming is one of the jobs that requires a large amount of energy to cultivate agricultural land. Farmers usually plow the fields manually and plant the rice in a bent position using the back as the main support. Working as a farmer has the risk of getting health problems due to work without realizing it, such as complaints of headaches and excessive fatigue. From the results of a preliminary study conducted, most of the farmers often stooped, and experienced complaints of aches, back and waist pain that often occurred. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between work posture and musculoskeletal complaints in farmers in Jagalan Village, Karangnongko District, Klaten Regency. The type of research used is analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted in Jagalan Village, Karangnongko District, Klaten Regency with a sample of 60 rice growing farmers and sampling using the Total Sampling technique. The data collection technique in this study was direct observation to the field for assessment of work posture using the Rapid Entry Body Assessment (REBA) method and measurement of musculoskeletal complaints using the Nordic Body Map questionnaire. The results showed that there was a relationship between work posture and musculoskeletal complaints (p value = 0.040). Based on research conducted, most of the respondents, namely 35 respondents experienced musculoskeletal complaints due to work, namely complaints on the upper arms, back, waist, thighs and calves. Respondents work in non-ergonomic body positions, this is based on an assessment of work posture using REBA which results in low risk to very high risk. It is recommended for farmers in planting rice to improve the correct work posture and pay attention to ergonomic principles by seeking information from the puskesmas, and farmers are expected to maintain body condition to stay healthy by exercising regularly and stretching muscles before doing work so as to reduce the risk of muscle injury. As for the government for health agencies to be able to cooperate with the agricultural sector to provide counseling or promotion of K3 (Occupational Safety and Health) to farmers, especially work postures. Establish a UKK Farmer post in the working area of the Puskesmas.
