Abstract

Groundwater as the primary need of living things has different conditions in each region. One of the groundwater phenomena that occurs is that it tastes brackish - salty, as in Wonosegoro District, Boyolali Regency, Central Java. The aims of this study were (1) Map the spasial distribution of salty groundwater traps and the types of rock layers in the area, (2) Analyzing the causes of the presence of salty groundwater in the research location. The method used in this study is a survey method, then to map the distribution of salty groundwater using the VES method (Schlumberger configuration) geoelectric estimation method which is processed using IP2WIN software. While the method to determine the cause of the presence of salty groundwater is by conducting laboratory tests based on the major elements of the groundwater sample and then plotting it into a trilinear piper diagram. The results of this research show that the distribution of brackish-salt groundwater has a cluster pattern. Areas that have brackish – salt groundwater, namely in some village Karangjati, Gosono, and Banyusri. Where there is a brackish-salt groundwater trap with a resistivity value of 0-15 m to a depth of 30 masl. Based on geoelectrical estimation, the research location has 3 types of rock formations, namely aquifers, aquiclude, and aquifug. The results of plotting on the trilinear piper diagram and rectangular diagram of the presence of high salinity groundwater is due to evaporation, where this evaporation can indicate that the research location in the past was an area that had been affected by sea water, so that it would cause sulfate and chloride salts to be left behind and precipitated and dissolved in groundwater.
