Abstract

Chronic Kidney Failure (CKD) is a process of progressive decline in kidney function. Acetaminophen given in toxic doses can cause oxidative stress that results in kidney function failure. The ethyl ester (CAPE) content in PropoelixTM is able to donate electrons to neutralize free radicals, preventing various cell damage due to oxidative stress so that it can improve CKD conditions. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of propoelixTM on serum creatinine levels of male rats with chronic kidney failure albino wistar strain. This study uses a true experimental design pre test – post test control group design method. The experimental animals were 28 rats that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria which were then divided into 4 groups. Group I positive control (Non CKD). Group II negative control (CKD) was induced by acetaminophen 1 g/kgBW/day. Group III treatment group was given propoelixTM 0.0216 g/200 g BW. And group IV treatment group was given propoelixTM 0.0432 g/200 g BW. Furthermore, measurements of creatinine levels were carried out using the Jaffe method pre and post treatment. The research analysis test used the One Way Anova test. The results showed that there was a significant increase (p<0.01) on the creatinine level of rats with wistar albino strain of chronic kidney failure induced by acetaminophen. treated with propoelixTM at a dose of 0.0216 grams and 0.0432 grams. In the propoelixTM treatment group, the dose of 0.0216 gram decreased by 2.43 mg/dL, while the propoelixTM treatment group at the dose of 0.0432 gram decreased by 2.98 mg/dL.
