Abstract

The achievement of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia is still low. Breast milk contains nutrients needed by the body so that it can meet nutrition and increase body immunity. Mother's employment status is included in one of the variables that are often analyzed as one of the determinants of exclusive breastfeeding. Objective This study aimed to analyze the correlation between the status of working mothers with a history of exclusive breastfeeding in infants aged > 6 months in Indonesia. Research Methodology The research method used was a literature (narrative) review of journal articles with a cross-sectional research design within the last 10 years and indexed by Sinta S1 - S3 and indexed by Scopus from PubMed and Google Scholar. The inclusion criteria used were journal articles with full text written in Indonesian or English and the research subjects were mothers who had babies aged > 6 months. Results The results of the review based on seven articles showed that there were four articles that had a significant correlation on both variables (p<0.05) while the other three articles stated that the status of working mothers had no correlation with a history of exclusive breastfeeding (p>0.05). Conclusion The status of working mothers can directly affect exclusive breastfeeding for babies so that programs in the form of education and promotion of breastfeeding for mothers are needed and support from families and institutions where they work to increase exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia.
