Abstract

This study aims to (1) identify the characteristics of the types of intransitive imperative sentences in the narrative essays of the students of SMP N 2 Banyudono. (2) Identify the form of politeness in intransitive imperative sentences in narrative essays of students of SMP N 2 Banyudono. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The data used in this study are intransitive imperative sentences. The data source of this research is narrative text made by junior high school students. Data collection techniques used literature study techniques, listening techniques, and notes. The validity of the data used in this study uses triangulation theory. The analysis technique used is the method of collecting data with literature study, observation, listening, and taking notes. The results of this study are the types of intransitive imperative sentences found in the narrative text of SMP N 2 Banyudono students found as many as 20. (1) The imperative sentence markers found are: finish!, shut up!, calm down!, get out of line!, bath!, drink!, read!, don't make noise!, calm down!, you wash your bike!, go!, study fast!, hey, be patient!, take this money!, check it again!, go home!, don't get used to eating while joking!, look!, don't go, mother!. (2) The form of politeness imperative sentence in the narrative text of SMP N 2 Banyudono students found intransitive imperative sentences that meet the politeness thimble of sympathy, humility, agreement, generosity, and agreement.
