Abstract

Income inequality is the difference in income that occurs within a group of people, in which there is a group with a relatively high average income and a group with a low average income. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of economic growth, open unemployment rate, average length of schooling and HDI on income inequality in Indonesia in 2015-2019. The analytical method in this study uses panel data regression analysis with 34 provinces in Indonesia as the object of observation. The data used is secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Based on the results of the Chow test and Hausman test, it was found that the best model chosen was the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). Based on the effect validity test, it was found that the HDI had a negative effect on income inequality in Indonesia in 2015-2019. Meanwhile, the variables of economic growth, the open unemployment rate and the average length of schooling have no effect on income inequality in Indonesia in 2015-2019
