Abstract
Climate change causes various negative impacts, such as a prolonged dry season. The Grindulu River Area is located in Pacitan Regency, East Java which has the characteristics of flooding during the rainy season and drought during the dry season. This makes the Pacitan area prone to drought during the dry season. This study aims to determine the effect of climate change on drought, determine the drought index using the Standardize Precipitaion Index (SPI) method and predict future droughts based on the SPI method and proven by the Hydrological Drought Index (IKH) based on discharge. This study concluded that the Grindulu River Area includes a climate with a slightly dry humidity level. Climate change causes high temperatures so that in the dry season large evaporation occurs and water availability decreases. The results of the SPI method analysis showed that the Grindulu river area every month for 20 years often experienced drought. Drought is more common in the dry season, from April to October with a peak drought index of -2.88 to -3.10. The results of the analysis of the calculation of the SPI method are almost the same as the IKH method, namely in the middle of the year for 20 years experiencing drought events with different levels of drought.
