This study focuses on the anxiety of a-sixteen-year-old Holden Caufield as the main character of the novel "The Catcher in the Rye" by analyzing his behavior pattern, his background story, and his relationship with his deceased brother named Allie. Holden has several traumas mentioned in the novel which sparks possibility that his mental condition is affected by his traumas. The researcher uses qualitative method in con-ducting this study by taking the primary data from the novel "The Catcher in the Rye" written by J.D. Salinger in 1951 and the secondary data from other resources such as books and online sources. The objective of this study is to analyze his behavior pat-tern, his background story, and his relationship with his deceased brother named Al-lie.
