Abstract

In Islam, taharah is an essential things that must be done as a term before someone doing worship, especially salat. On a school, taharah learning has a goal of providing student understanding and forming their skill. To achieve that goal, teachers can use media. One of the media that is considered effective to teach about taharah is audio visual media. The purpose of this study was to determine and describe the use and effectiveness of using audio-visual media in teaching taharah material to 7th grade students of MTs Negeri 7 Ngawi. This study uses a qualitative approach and uses a type of field research. Data collection methods used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely the data codification stage, data presentation and conclusion drawing or verification. From the results, fiqh teachers at MTs Negeri 7 Ngawi don’t use audio visual media too often in their learning, but rather use lecture and demonstrations methods. And to implement the audio visual media on taharah learning, the steps that taken by the teacher is: preparation step, implementation step, and follow-up or evaluation steps. In its implementation in taharah learning in class VII MTs N 7 Ngawi, audio visual media has advantages and weaknesses. Among the advantages of the audio visual media is the student’s focus on the material displayed is better, so that the class becomes more conditioned. And among the weaknesses of audio visual media in thaharah learning is teachers need more time to prepare the learning tools and videos. But overall, it can be concluded that the positive impact of audio visual media outweight the weakness. It will be even better if teachers can be able to use the media well and combine it with the right methods and strategies.
