Abstract

Population immobility that occurs in Surakarta City is in several sub-districts, one of which is in Pasar Kliwon District, Semanggi Village to be exact. The immobility of the population that occurs in Semanggi Village is caused by several factors, location factors, social factors, economic factors, and family factors, each of which has a point that makes the reason for the population of Semanggi Village to immobilize. Based on research data from 180 respondents selected from RW 1, 2, 4, and 5 there are 143 respondents who have the desire to stay. This study aims (1) to analyze the population in the Semanggi Village (2) to analyze the characteristics of population in the Semanggi Slum area (3) to analyze the factors that cause population immobility in the Semanggi Slum area. The method used is a survey method which includes interviews with respondents, environmental observations, and taking pictures in the area. The analytical method used is frequency table analysis and descriptive quantitative analysis. The results of this study indicate that the location factor is the most influential factor for population to immobilize in the Semanggi Slum Area, with conditions that tend to be untidy, dirty, and cramped. However, the main reason for the location factor is the influencing factor, namely the location used is close to public facilities, and the city center. This makes it easier for population of the Semanggi Area, most of them have incomes below the Surakarta City minimum incomes and have non-formal jobs. The results of this study are expected to be information about the area regarding the Semanggi Village and can be used as additional information for other research in the area.
