Abstract
Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a non-communicable chronic disease that occurs due to high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) due to disruption of insulin activity and lack of insulin secretion (Hartanti, 2013). The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2015 recorded that there were 415 million people with adult diabetes aged 20-79 years worldwide and it is estimated that by 2040 it will increase to 642 million people. It is estimated that about 30-80% of diabetes cases worldwide are undiagnosed (WHO, 2019). According to data from the Central Java Health Office in 2019 the estimated number of diabetes mellitus sufferers in Central Java Province was 652,822 people (Central Java Health Office, 2019). One of the important things to do for people with diabetes mellitus is spiritual needs. Spiritual is the relationship between humans and their God by carrying out activities according to the religion and belief of every human being. Spiritual can be a source of hope for someone when facing pain and feeling suffering (Zehtab & Adib-Hajbaghery, 2014). Purpose: To describe the spiritual level in self-management of Diabetes Mellitus sufferers in Central Java Province.
