Abstract
Social Media Instagram in addition to being used to share photos and videos that can be reached by many audiences, is also a medium for making friends, which initially happened online. This study focuses on how the stages of teenagers in making friends that start online until they are able to continue into the real world. This type of research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The data collection technique used by researchers in this study was in- depth interviews. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with a sample of 4 people who are late teens Instagram users and have made friends online until they continue to the real world. The data analysis technique used is source triangulation. The results showed that a person in making friends that started from online to continue to the real world passed through 4 stages and it was also inseparable from interpersonal attraction which discussed a person's interest in establishing relationships with other people, as for the interpersonal attraction factors in this study were similarity, emotional stress, physical attractiveness, rewards, familiarity and proximity.
