Abstract

Rain affects the water content in the soil which causes or can increase the potential for swelling and shrinkage of the soil. The road pavement plate can help resist soil shrinkage so that the road has a flat surface and is able to withstand soil shrinkage. In this study, the shape of the pavement plate on expansive soil will be studied, where the pressure value expands to control the structure of the pavement plate. If there is a change in weather from dry to rainy which affects the water content in the soil and causes soil shrinkage, the pavement plate remains safe. This research is a descriptive study with data collection techniques using secondary data. The calculation of the dimension data and the shape of the road pavement plate is obtained from the assumption value. Soil parameters used liquid limit (LL) 80%; plasticity index (PI) 44.25%; CBR field (2%); value of expanding pressure (0.08 kg/cm2); level of activity (Activity) 1.39. The calculation method is done by manual calculation method and to draw the design using the AutoCAD 2010 application. The results of this study are the shape of the pavement plate on expansive soil with plate length dimensions (P) 6 m, plate width (L) 3 m, with men, with a combination of block A (6 m long, 0.35 m wide, 0.40 m high), block B (6 m long, 0.3 m wide, 0.40 m high), and block C (6 m long, 0 .35 m, height 0.40 m), and for longitudinal plate reinforcement 12 – 200, transverse plate reinforcement 12 – 300, tie bar 16 – 250 (600 mm length), dowel 25 – 300 (450 mm length), compression reinforcement beams A and C 2D16, compressive reinforcement for beams A and C 6D16, begel beams A and C 6 – 150, compressive reinforcement for beam B 2D22, tensile reinforcement for beam B 5D22, begel beam B 6 – 150. Calculations are carried out based on the control of the expansion pressure value.
