Abstract

Anxiety is a subjective experience of nervous mental tension as a general reaction and the inability to deal with problems or insecurities. Motivation to learn is the overall psychological driving force in students that causes learning activities that ensure continuity of learning in order to achieve one goal. This study aims to determine the relationship between anxiety and student motivation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a relationship between anxiety and student motivation during the covid-19 pandemic. The research was conducted at SMA Batik 2 Surakarta. The population was all students of SMA Batik 2 Surakarta, amounting to 696 students. Samples were taken 10% of the total population, or 10% X 696 = 69.6 rounded to 70 students, sampling was done by using the Accidental Sampling technique by directly selecting members of the population who could be contacted. The analysis technique uses product moment correlation with the application of SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science). The results showed that the correlation coefficient was r = 0.611; p = 0.000 (p <0.05) which indicates that there is a very significant positive correlation between anxiety and learning motivation. The effective contribution of anxiety facing online schools to student learning motivation was 37.3%, meaning that the effect of anxiety facing online schools on student learning motivation was 37.3%. while the other 62.7% is determined by factors that have not been studied by researchers.
