Abstract

this study aimed to determine the effect of the type of mordant and the length of time of dyeing on the finished mori primissima fabric used extract of ketapang leaf with pre-mordanting technique. the variations of dyeing time were 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes, and 75 minutes. the type of mordant used acetic acid, lime, chalk, tunjung and alum. this study used a randomized design with two factors. organoleptic tests were conducted with the aspect of the sharpness and fading value of the coloring results involving 15 respondents, data analysis was based on known variables, two independent variables and two dependent variables with data analysis multivariate analysis of varience (manova), homogeneity analysis using levenes test and homogeneous subsets analysis with the tukey test. the results from aspect of color sharpness, the color sharpness value is obtained in the lowest order of dyeing time of 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes and the best is 75 minutes with a value of 2.52. by the variation of mordant types, the value of color sharpness was obtained in the order of the lowest value occupied by acetic acid mordant, lime, chalk, alum and the highest was tunjung with a value of 3.907. in terms of the fading aspect, the lowest value was in the dyeing time variation of 75 minutes, 60 minutes, 45 minutes, 30 minutes and the highest value was dyeing time of 15 minutes with a value of 3.01. from the variation of mordant types, the color fastness value is obtained in the order of the lowest value occupied by tunjung, acetic acid, alum,chalk and the highest was lime with value 3,707.
