Abstract

Crime in Indonesia is a problem in life in society and the country. Not only causing unrest in society but also having a wide impact, both socially, economically and psychologically. The problem of crime in Indonesia is not only the responsibility of law enforcement officials, but all parties in society together with the government can seek to take preventive measures to reduce the number of crime rates. This is because the crime rate in Indonesia has increased from year to year. BPS data in 2013, there were 342,084 cases the number of crimes, in 2016 the number of crimes increased to 357,197 cases. From this background, the author explores the problem, do economic factors influence crime? This research method uses panel data regression analysis. Model testing uses the best model, namely the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results of this study conclude that the number of unemployed, inflation rate, population density has a significant effect on the number of crimes. Meanwhile, GDP at constant price independent variable has no impact on the number of crimes.
