Abstract

The purpose of this study is to (1) describe the structure, (2) describe moral values, (3) explain the relevance of the study of moral values in Tere Liye's novel Rindu to literary learning in high school. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The research design uses content analysis and literature study. The object under study is the novel Rindu by Tere Liye. The data studied are in the form of sentences containing moral values. The data sources used are grouped into two, namely primary data sources in the form of the Rindu novel by Tere Liye and secondary data sources in the form of books, articles, writings on the internet, and others related to the object of research. Data collection techniques using library techniques, listen, and take notes. The data analysis technique used is the dialectical method. The results of this study indicate that (1) the structure of the novel includes the theme, plot, setting, characters and characterizations, as well as point of view, (2) moral values are divided into three, namely the moral value of human relations with oneself which includes patience, wisdom, and kind, the moral value of human relations with other humans which includes helping, willing to sacrifice, and empathy, the moral value of human relations with God which includes repentance, worship, and gratitude, (3) the relevance of the study of moral values can be used as an alternative literary learning material in high school, to be precise, in the 2013 curriculum, Indonesian class XI subjects were in the form of activities or activities to analyze and compose messages in novels.
