Abstract

Bad phenomena that occur in society are various cases of crime, violence, cheating, dishonesty, violation of norms, and delinquency, causing hostility and bloodshed. This happens because moral decline is almost everywhere and from various circles. The badness of this psychological crisis will not only affect the world but will also have an impact in the hereafter. Therefore, this moral decline can be overcome if people want to return to the true religious teachings, one of which is by paying attention to the teachings of tazkiyah. The problem that will be discussed in this research is how the concept of tazkiyah according to Al-Azhar's interpretation. The research entitled "The Concept of Tazkiyah in the Al-Qur'an According to Tafsir Al-Azhar" is a qualitative research with an approach to the interpretation of the Qur'an. The primary data source in this research is the book of interpretation of Al-Azhar by Buya Hamka. The data collection method in this research is documentation and the data analysis method in this research is content analysis. The results of this study indicate that tazkiyah is purifying the soul both physically, spiritually, and physically. Tazkiyah leads to three things, namely physical cleansing, non-physical cleansing, and financial cleansing. The characteristics of people who do tazkiyah according to Al-Azhar's interpretation include doing good to fellow humans, not doing usury, being humble in worshiping Allah, prospering mosques, and always remembering Allah. The purpose of someone doing tazkiyah is to get closer to Allah.
