Abstract

Background : Sleep is one of the basic needs that everyone needs. Sleep disorders can affect anyone, and from any circle, including students. Sleep disorders can also affect sleep quality. One solution to this problem is to do yoga exercises. Yoga itself is a form of exercise that combines movement and breathing. Yoga movements will affect emotional stability in the body and make the body calm. This relaxed and calming condition is what is needed to get good quality sleep. Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of yoga exercises on improving the quality of sleep for students of the Faculty of Engineering, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. Method : The type of research that will be used in this research is Quasi Experimental Design with a research design that is Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. The number of samples is 23 people. Results : The test results using the paired sample t-test showed the value of sleep quality improvement in the treatment group with a p-value of 0.002. Conclusion : There is an effect of Yoga exercise on improving sleep quality in students of the Engineering Faculty, Muhammadiyah University of Suraka
