Indonesia has two seasons, the dry season and the rainy season. High water intensity in the rainy season is more abundant than the dry season. High rainfall is often the cause of problems such as increased water discharge in irrigation canals resulting in overflow of water that can inundate road surfaces and residential areas around rice fields. Puddles of water on the streets can also be caused by overflowing waterways due to the position of the irrigation sluice gates that are still closed, resulting in the inhibition of the increasing flow of water. How to overcome this can be overcome by making a tool that changes the way the floodgates work from manual to automatic. The floodgate will open following the height of the water flowing in the irrigation canal. The author has made a prototype of an Arduino-based automatic rice field irrigation gate which intends to adjust the position or opening of the water flow gate automatically in order to solve the existing problems. This tool will read the amount of water level that flows with an ultrasonic sensor. The sensor will respond to the water level and the sensor results will be sent to Arduino, if the water level exceeds the predetermined limit, the floodgate will automatically open with a servo motor drive. The water level limit used is when the water distance with the ultrasonic sensor is below 20 cm then servo 1 will open the floodgate 1, if the water distance with the ultrasonic sensor is less than 10 cm then servo 2 will open the floodgate 2. Then for the expected results from the tool This is the realization of an automatic sluice system that can control the flow of water in a rice field irrigation that minimizes errors or damage caused by changing water levels in various conditions such as bad weather.
