Abstract

The use of concrete bricks as a building material has advantages in supporting compressive pressure, is easy to form according to needs, inexpensive maintenance and can take advantage of local materials, therefore concrete bricks are very popular for both large and small structures. Besides having the advantage of being resistant to compression, concrete bricks also have poor properties, namely brittle so that they are not strong enough to withstand tensile stresses. The concrete block part will experience cracks which can affect the durability of the building. The solution in increasing the tensile strength of concrete blocks is to use added materials as a reinforcing material against pressure. In this literature study, a summary of three studies related to the compressive strength and tensile strength of the added ingredients of apus bamboo, ori bamboo, and coconut fiber. The results of the analysis show that the added material of bamboo apus has the best tensile strength and compressive strength values when compared to bamboo ori and coconut fiber
