Abstract

The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic is a test for the entire population of the earth, all segments of human life are disrupted without exception of education. so that learning is carried out remotely or online as well as regarding the cultivation of character values. This study aims to determine implement character education through distance learning at Muhammadiyah 2 Vocational High School of Karanganyar. This research is qualitative, taking the place and subject at Muhammadiyah 2 Vocational High School of Karanganyar. Data collection is done by interview, observation, and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis was carried out in three ways, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. To ensure the validity of the data obtained, three triangulation techniques were used, namely source triangulation, technical triangulation, and time triangulation. The results showed: The application of religious character education through distance learning at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Karanganyar, including (1) Praying before starting teaching and learning activities. (2) Memorizing short letters 1 day 1 letter. (3) The teacher assures all students that the Al-Quran is truly the word of Allah SWT. (4) The teacher gives a test or assignment once a week. (5) The teacher instructs the students to pray dhuha at home every 09.00 WIB. (6) Familiarize students for Friday infaq through infaq boxes that they made themselves (7) Speak gently and behave well. (8) Be polite to friends and neighbors who are both Muslim or to neighbors of different faiths. (9) Students are asked to ask each other the news and conditions. (10) To visit a friend or neighbor who is sick, or if it is not possible to pray for a speedy recovery. (11) The TPA teaching program in the local mosque of each student is still running its TPA. The obstacles in the application of religious characters through distance learning are (1) The existence of physical and social restrictions that hinder the movement of education. (2) There are some students who do not understand the explanation given by the teacher. (3) There are some students who do not collect the assignments that have been given, besides that there are also some students who are late in collecting assignments. (4) There are some students who do not have cellphones that support the video recording quality. (5) The internet network is constrained for students whose houses are in remote villages. (6) There are students who cannot afford to buy quotas. (7) The teacher is limited to the students' level of honesty. (8) The loss of role models or figures who are used as role models by students when at school. While the solutions to these problems are (1) Carrying out activities to inculcate religious character values ​​through habituation in their respective homes such as dhuha prayers, recitals, and Friday infaq. (2) The teacher makes various concepts and learning materials in the form of animation or using video media. (3) The teacher reminds students to immediately collect the assignments given. (4) The teacher gives tolerance to students belonging to underprivileged families. (5) Giving leeway to send assignments for students who are constrained by the internet network. (6) Providing internet quota assistance to students who really cannot afford it. (7) The teacher cooperates with the student's guardian to ask about the student's progress, or make regular visits to the student. (8) The teacher provides examples and makes guidelines regarding the proper and good use of social media.
