Abstract

Alzheimer's dementia (senile) is a degenerative disease in which a decrease in brain function affects emotions, memory, decision making, behavior and other brain functions to interfere with daily activities. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Alzheimer's Disease International Organization revealed that the total number of people with dementia worldwide in 2015 reached 47.5 million and totaled 22 million, mostly in Asia. The increasing number of people with dementia which results in increased medical costs, requires early treatment to prevent and manage the healing process for dementia sufferers, including by using a dementia screening tool through a mobile application. The mobile application of dementia assessment is the assessment of dementia using a smartphone device in which there are also various questions that are similar in nature to the manual dementia assessment (MMSE). The purpose of this study was to identify the effectiveness of the cognitive assessment of mobile application dementia by reviewing previous research. This study used a literature review design with descriptive analysis. The population of this study were all articles related to the cognitive assessment of mobile application dementia. The sample in this study was the elderly. In this study, the authors used the PubMed and Science Direct databases for article searches. Screening was carried out using covidence and critical appraisal in this study using the Cross Sectional checklist.
