Abstract
Aquaponics is an alternative to growing vegetables and keeping fish in one container. This experiment shows that nutrient recycling is not a luxury reserved for rural areas with limited space. With the shrinking of agricultural land in urban areas that can be utilized, so land use is an option to support agricultural development in urban areas. Therefore, in the research conducted a system that is able to increase the productivity of fish and vegetables to the maximum by using automated technology to facilitate monitoring and maintenance. These technologies include lighting, water pH monitoring, TDS (Total Dissolved Solid), temperature, water drain time in ponds, pond filling, as well as automatic feeding of fish by applying IoT (internet of things) to aquaponics. The system requires several sensors and key components, among them pH meter sensors, TDS, servo motors, and ultrasonics. The sensor is integrated and processed through the Arduino Uno microcontroller. System measurement results are controlled and sent to nodeMCU ESP8266 connected to an internet connection. This Arduino based intelligent aquaponics system can be monitored in real time. The results showed the tool works according to the needs of aquaponics and controlled systems through smartphones using the Blynk application so as to facilitate the maintenance and maintenance of plants and fish. The average error value generated on the pH meter sensor is 0.14, the TDS sensor is 2.34 ppm and the temperature sensor is 0.72 °C. The average value is not too large so the accuracy in control is still guaranteed.
