Abstract

Physical activity and Body Mass Index (BMI) will affect the learning process, so that it will have an impact on a person's learning achievement index. A person's body mass index is obtained from weight and height. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between physical activity and body mass index with learning achievement index in students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta in the age group of 17 – 23 years. This research is an analytic observational type with a cross sectional approach. The research population was 550 students consisting of 4 batches, with 85 students as the research sample selected at simple randomness. The results of data analysis using the chi square test showed that the relationship between physical activity and learning achievement obtained a probability value (p) = 0.060 (p>0.05), for the relationship between body mass index and learning achievement index p = 0.002 (p<0.05). . Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that physical activity with learning achievement index does not have a significant relationship, while body mass index and learning achievement index have a significant relationship.
