Abstract

Growth and development on the outskirts of the city or the so-called suburbanization process is characterized by a high level of population density which can result in high changes in land use so that there is a need for policies in regional development. This study aims to determine the dynamics of the distribution of peri-urban area classifications, to determine the dominant factors that cause the development of peri-urban areas and the direction of distribution of settlements in Colomadu District. The zone classification of peri urban areas uses secondary data including agency surveys and literacy studies and performs spatial analysis using GIS, cross tabulation techniques are used to obtain dominant factors that can affect regional growth and overlay techniques are used to determine the development of urban peri areas. The results of this study are a comparison of regional classifications in peri urban areas, the dominant factors that influence the development of peri urban areas and maps of settlement development in 2010 and 2020. In Colomadu District in 2010 there were two classifications based on physical and socio-economic aspects, namely the rural peri-urban and secondary peri-urban classifications, while in 2020 all villages underwent a transformation into secondary peri-urban areas. there is a need for the role of the government to carry out regional planning in the future, especially in Colomadu District, Karanganyar Regency. The fastest settlement development in Bolon Village which increased by 37.76% or about 21.00 ha. While the slowest in Gawanan Village increased by about 3.23% or about 1.80 ha.
