Abstract

Ceper District is the center of the metal casting industry which was founded in 1935. From year to year the metal casting industry has decreased due to the difficulty of raw materials and the existence of the Covid-19 epidemic, many casting industries have had an impact on their production activities. The objectives of this study: (1) Analysis of the sustainability of the Metal Casting industry in Ceper District during the Covid-19 pandemic. (2) Strategy analysis of entrepreneurs in maintaining Metal Casting Industry in Ceper District. The sampling technique uses proportional random sampling or the sampling technique is random and balanced. The method used was a survey accompanied by an interview using a questionnaire. The data processing technique was carried out in three stages, namely editing, coding, and tabulation. The results of this study are in the form of: (1) The sustainability of the metal casting industry during COVID-19, the number of large industrial workers has not decreased, medium and small industries have decreased, employers enforce workers to take turns and there are workers who are temporarily suspended, when working hours used to be 9 hours to 8 hours in accordance with regional regulations, the number of production of entrepreneurs has decreased due to the absence of orders, the amount of turnover sold is very slightly influenced by the decreased number of production, the salary of metal foundry employees has decreased, at the time of COVID-19 there were several entrepreneurs implementing policies deduction of employee salaries by 25%. (2) The 4P strategy for products is to follow new trends and understand consumer needs, for a strategic location because the location of the industry in Central Java facilitates access in distribution, for the prices of metal casting products on the market are very varied, product promotion through online media for reach more local markets.
