Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between authoritarian parenting and late adolescent psychological well-being. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a positive relationship between authoritarian parenting and psychological well-being. The population in this study were students of the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta aged 18-22 years as many as 120 people. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive sampling method, which is a sampling technique based on certain criteria. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational study that compares 2 variables, including psychological well-being as the dependent variable (Y) and authoritarian parenting as the independent variable (X). The data collection in this study used a scale of psychological well-being and a scale of authoritarian parenting. The data analysis method used non-parametric analysis. The results of the analysis of hypothesis testing for variables of psychological well-being and variables of authoritarian parenting using non-parametric analysis, namely Kendall's Tau, get the results that the significance value is p = 0,00 (p<0,01) The effective contribution of authoritarian parenting to psychological well-being is 7,8 % So it can be concluded that proves that there is a positive relationship between psychological well-being and authoritarian parenting
