Abstract

PT. PLN (persero) ULP Boyolali is a customer service unit that serves the needs of electricity in the boyolali area, as well as carrying out maintenance, and repairs to the medium voltage network of 20 kV distributed from two substations namely Mojosongo substation and Banyudono substation. The main daily needs of Indonesians who can not be separated from electricity make the distribution process become important so that all Indonesians can feel the presence of electric energy. Then a supporting system is needed so that the electricity supply can be distributed properly. In the distribution process in the territory of Indonesia there are a lot of disturbances, one of which is lightning disruption. Lightning interference can cause damage to distribution channels and impede the distribution of power grids. Lightning strikes are categorized into two, namely direct strikes and indirect strikes. The type of direct strike is a direct strike that hits the phase cable or the protective cable. An indirect strike occurs when lightning strikes objects around the distribution cable. The geographical area of Indonesia which is in the equator is hot and humid, causing Indonesia to have a high lightning strike day. Indonesia experiences at least 100 days per year (Hutahuruk, 1988). In the distribution network of 20 kV Boyolali area within the period January - May 2021 there are 3 refiners affected by lightning. Ground wire and arrester are used as protection against tissues in the Boyolali area. The estimated number of interruptions to induction strikes or indirect strikes without ground wire amounted to 58,71 times strikes per 100 km per year, while if using ground wire the estimated number of disturbances as much as 41,74 times per 100 km per year. there is a difference of up to 16,97% for induction strikes. The estimated number of direct strike disturbances without ground wire is 73.57 strikes per 100 km per year, while if using ground wire 30.54 times strikes per 100 km per year. There is a difference of up to 32,58 % . In addition, protection uses an arrester with an identifying voltage of 21 kV and a release current of 10 kA.
