Abstract
Manual activity and work duration in rattan crafting cause musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The purpose of study was identifying MSDs complaints, find whether there is a relationship between age, work experience, body mass index (BMI), and exercise habits to MSD complaints, assess risk at 4 work stations, propose improvements for craftsmen Sentra Rattan Rumbai. The methods used are Nordic Body Map (NBM) and Hand Arm Risk Assessment Method (HARM). 32 respondents were given the NBM questionnaire to evaluate body segments with MSDs complaints. 4 workers was assessed with HARM, by watching task videos, filling work duration score, exertion, work posture, and risk classification based on the worksheet. As NBM analysis results, 59% of respondents had mild MSDs, 41% had moderate MSDs. Age, work duration, exercise habits have a significant relationship with MSD complaints. BMI does not have a significant relationship with MSDs complaints. As HARM analysis result, workers in weaving and finishing stations have an increased risk of arm, neck, or shoulder complaints about some employees. Workers in sanding and frame-making workstations have high risk of experiencing arm, neck, and shoulder complaints. The improvements suggestion are providing ergonomic work facilities, involving SMEs in K3 empowerment, schedule stretching before and after work.
