Abstract

This study aimed to describe the efforts made by the Melikan Village community in improving economic welfare through the traditional pottery business and to describe the results achieved by the Melikan Village community in an effort to improve economic welfare through the traditional pottery product business. This research use a qualitative approach, with a case study research design. The data collection techniques used in this study were interview, observation, and documentation techniques, then the sources of this research consisted of six pottery craftsmen, two local people, and two employees of the pottery business in Melikan Village. The validity of the data is done by triangulation of sources and triangulation of methods, while the data analysis technique uses the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the efforts made by pottery craftsmen in Melikan Village to improve their economic welfare include capital, increasing production capacity, increasing product innovation, improving Human Resources skills, managing business management, and expanding marketing networks. Meanwhile, the results obtained from these efforts include improving the living standards of the surrounding community, providing jobs for the surrounding community, improving the village economy, and improving community skills. Suggestions for further researchers are expected to study more deeply about efforts to improve the skills of Human Resources (HR) through training in pottery making techniques carried out by pottery craftsmen in Melikan Village, as well as examine more deeply about efforts to expand the marketing network carried out by pottery craftsmen in Melikan Village. pottery craftsmen both offline and online so that the results of their research can be better and more complete.
