Abstract
In a dating relationship, it is characterized by face-to-face interactions and physical closeness. However, in long distance dating, consequences such as not being physically present and being hindered by each other's activities will reduce their intensity to interact in order to maintain a romantic relationship. In this case, their interactions must be mediated by technological tools, one of which is through the Media Information and Communication Technology (ICT) which provides features that can facilitate communication. The problem examined in this study is how conflict management is in an effort to maintain the integrity of long-distance dating relationships. Meanwhile, the purpose of this research is to find out how the respondents do conflict management through ICT media. Social penetration theory is used in this study. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research methodology which is carried out through an interview process. Sampling was done through purposive sampling technique, with the population in this study were students who had long-distance dating relationships. The results of the study indicate that when a conflict occurs in a relationship that is not geographically close to a partner, informants can communicate to manage conflict through ICT with their partners. The choice of features in a conflict situation is determined by the informant depending on which one is more effective. The modified strategic choice model is applied in conflict management.
