Abstract

Transformational leadership is one of the most popular forms of leadership style that has been the focus of many studies to measure its effect on employee organizational commitment in implementing change. In addition to having a direct influence on employee organizational commitment, the role of transformational leadership in creating organizational culture and carrying out the existing organizational culture will indirectly influence the creation of employee organizational commitment. The main objective of this research is to analyze the effect of transformational leadership on the organizational commitment of employees at the Surakarta Primary Tax Office through organizational culture as an intervening variable. This research was conducted using a questionnaire that was distributed by means of a census study technique with a total sample population of 121 employees of the Surakarta Pratama Tax Office. The analytical method used in this research is Partial Least Square (PLS). Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that transformational leadership has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment of employees through organizational culture. This means that the greater the transformational leadership caused by the higher organizational culture applied by a leader, the more likely it is to increase the organizational commitment of employees, and vice versa.
